A former Indianapolis Colts cheerleader is suing the team, claiming she was discriminated against when photos of her posing in a painted bikini led to the Colts saying by-by.  Malori Wampler was fired last November after a fan, YES, A COLTS FAN sent in photos of the cheerleader wearing nothing more than body paint in the shape of a bikini. (See Poll below)

The story which was posted in the Indianapolis Star, states that the photos violated the Colts’ code of conduct, but Wampler, who is of Indonesian descent, says she did not violate policy because the photos were taken prior to joining the Colts’ cheer squad and while working for Playboy. According to The Star, Wampler claims the Colts discriminated against her based on her gender and ethnicity, saying other cheerleaders have committed similar acts but were allowed to keep their jobs.

It was April 2009, and the launch of INDY Sports Nation was going to change the way sports was covered in the state of Indiana, but a year and eight months later, the Nation will be no more. According to sources at Fox 59, INDY Sports Nation ends January 3rd. It’s back to Fox 59 Sports, Twitter names have been changed from ISN to Fox59 (JJFox59Sports & Fox59LHawley), INDYsportsnation.com will take you to the new Fox59.com/sports and the blog stories are absent.

The Early Days

The Founder has strong words in the beginning and a clear outlook what this site could have been.  “The web offers unique story telling opportunities that you just can’t get on TV radio or print.  Hope you like the site. We are trying to make it for you the fans, not for our egos.”  So where did it go wrong?  That’s anyones guess, but has to start with a poor site leader (who’s no longer there), because in a real sports town this concept would have killed, by giving the fans,”opportunities that you just can’t get on TV radio or print.”  Give me a strong staff of five, that are all on board and I’ll give you the numbers that your looking for. So Long Nation, it’s been fun and hopefully we’ll still be able to read some of the great insights on some of the great local stories this city has to offer.

Panini Signs Manning

Posted: August 11, 2010 in Indianapolis Colts, Panini

Panini card company has signed Indianapolis Colts Peyton Manning to an exclusive deal. The deal will give Panini the rights to use  Manning’s game-used memorabilia and autographs on its cards and his image on its packaging.

Let me be the first to suggest that we need to renickname Indianpolis. Let’s throw out Circle City, and retag this village with it’s new nickname, “Second City” – A City that just can’t win or how about “Second City” – We just can’t get over the hump. ________ Insert Redneck Colts fans here, “Well we win it all, in there that Super Bowl versus the Bears” We’ll give you credit for that win, but let’s look at just this last year. Indianapolis has had some great teams over the last few months, but just can’t get over the hill.

The Indiana Fever, won over the city back in October in a “will it be our last year or not” title run for a WNBA championship run, but in the end it was the Phoenix Mercury who ended up being WNBA champions pulling out a 94-86 victory over the Fever in a deciding Game 5.

The Indianapolis Colts, this was the year for Peyton and the boys to win it all. A magical year pulling out great wins, like that November 15th win over New England, but then the focus shifts. The let cruise into the playoff attitude, dropping both the December 27th contest vs the Jets and starting the New Year off with a loss to the Bills on January 3rd. The season ends with a 14-2 record, fans are seeing the light and after playoff wins over Baltimore and the Jets again, fans believe. The high hopes in the eyes of fans, just like the feeling back in October when this city was ready to crown a champion only to fall short yet again, this time by the hands of the New Orleans Saints.

The Butler Bulldogs, here’s a team that not only won over Indianapolis but had room on the bus for every bandwagon fan it picked up along the road to the Final Four. The Dogs were able to dance with the best this last March, with it’s Hoosier like story line, leading them to the Monday night championship game vs Duke.  Many hoop fans, not located within the circle of 465, gave Butler no

chance in hell against the Blue Devils. As the game went on, Butler was for real. This was it, no more second city, but this was where the Hoosiers story line and the real world split ways. Jimmy Chitwood’s nailed his shot while Gordon Hayward’s shot looked good, smelled good, but O, so close. Duke holds on and wins 61 to 59.

It would be another heart breaking loss for the city, this “Second City”  and like the great Ricky Bobby said, “If you ain’t first, your last”

Reggie injured

The talk was all about if Dwight Feeney would be able to play on Sunday, but now the news includes talk about Reggi Wayne and if he’ll be able to go.  Wayne, left Friday’s practice early with a knee injury, which is believed not to be serious enough to keep him out of Sunday’s game.

In a report submitted by the league, Wayne re-aggravated an old injury.  Colts coach Jim Caldwell said he didn’t think the injury was severe, but Wayne is listed as probable on the team’s injury report for Sunday’s NFL title game.
